It's a universal truth that before rectifying any error or resolving any problem we need to diagnose or identify it first. To identify it we have to search the symptoms that point out to the possible causes and then go for optional strategies available to remove the very cause and get permanent solution. That's what usually doctors do; firstly they examine the patient and try to diagnose the problem or deficiency in him. After diagnosing the problem they try to cure it by prescribing most effective remedy suited to the chemistry of patient.
In the same way here we would know how healthy our dog is and later on in other posts we would learn how to maintain our dog's health.
To know about our dog's health we need to examine following things in them:
Firstly, we need to examine its Head. Look whether the nose is cool and damp, gums are bright and pink, the teeth are white, clean and straight. Be sure that upper and lower teeth are not overshot or upper shot, Eyes are bright, clear, and can look straight ahead. Don't forget to check for redness or inflammation of the third eyelid, or eyelids that roll in or outward. The ear canals should be clean and odour-free.
Secondly to know how healthy our dog is we need to examine his body.and his stomach. It should not be swollen or tight because it signifies poor diet or worm possibly the worm infestation. Heart beat should be strong and regular. The genitals should be clean and free from irritation, because any irritation in them could indicate worms, diarrhoea, or a digestive disorder. Both testicles should be present in the male. The coat should be feathery, clean, and free of mats. The proper working of these parts leads to a healthy body.
Third and the most important parts which are very important for a healthy dog are definitely the bones and muscles. Check if these are sound and well built in structure, because structure of the dog means his beauty for example gray hounds are famous for their slim structure which makes them the fastest among dogs. Look at the legs whether they are straight or not? Are the toes well arched? Can they run fast without any problem in their style of running?
Thus we have to minutely see all three main parts of the body of a dog namely; head, trunk and limbs. Sometimes it happens that people do not in fact know the signs of their dogs being healthy and so they unnecessarily bother about their puppies. Hence it is recommended to collect relevant information about dog's health as soon as you happen to buy one of your choices.

Dog Aggression: Children and Their Pets
It's terrifying how common tales are of dogs savaging young children. You might think that it's just Pit Bulls or certain breeds that do this kind of thing but it's common across all breeds. Children have the uncanny ability to make dogs angry without intending.
Most families will luckily never have to deal with anything remotely as traumatic but if you own a dog and have children; or have children visiting often - then you too must take some responsibility for their actions and behavior.
You want to prepare your children by teaching them a few simple rules about playing with the dog.
The first step to understand the aggression. So, what causes dogs to become aggressive? There are a few different kinds of aggression that dogs experience. If they are scared they become aggressive, if something threatens their territory or family and as an act of dominance assertion.
An aggressive dog's ears will pin back; their tail might stand up and they will growl. The growl is a warning.
What's the best way to deal with an aggressive dog?
If you have the luxury of realizing before something happens that the dog is upset and about to hurt your child or you there are some things you can do:
- It's most important to try to keep as calm as possible; the dog will sense your fear
- Speak in a soft voice - remove the disturbance if possible.
What can you do to prevent an aggressive dog?
- Teach your children that the dogs have feeling too and are to be treated with care. This means no rough playing with the dog. Some breeds of dog become agitated and roughhousing can greatly upset them. Enough to bite your child!
- If your children are very small you will need to take care to supervise them at all times. You cannot leave a toddler with a dog without risking something going wrong. Very young children do not understand how to treat animals yet.
- The importance of having a well trained dog cannot be stated enough. When you get a puppy take them to obedience classes straight away. Even if you don't have children it's important to have a well trained dog. You don't want your beloved pooch to harm someone else's children.
If you have children and are considering buying a dog; there are some considerations that can make it far less likely for an aggressive dog. Choose carefully - some breeds are known to have a low tolerance and others are known to be child friendly.
Dogs have a long standing relationship with humans - dogs love people and visa versa. By following these pointers you should be assured of a happy calm dog that won't harm anyone. A carefully trained dog will give you peace of mind and most importantly - become an important part of your family life.

Chihuahua Puppy Is Coming Home
You have purchased your Chihuahua puppy and now preparing to bring it home. You want your new family member to feel comfortable in its new home and you want your home to survive this new family member. How should you prepare?
First of all decide which part of your home will be off-limits. It will be better for your new Chihuahua to allow freer reign as he ages rather than to suddenly no longer allow him where he once could go.
Chihuahuas seem to like to perch on high places while surveying its surroundings. A Chihuahua can be severely injured jumping off high places. As a general rule if they can't jump up to a place by themselves, they shouldn't jump down from that place. You can make a ramp that leads to favorite lookouts or nesting spots.
You need to prepare for a new Chihuahua puppy just as you need to prepare for a new baby, with some changes of course. Furnish your home with Chihuahua "stuff" as the next step toward making your house his home. Some sources for supplies are large pet stores, dog shows, discount pet catalogs and the internet.
Toys
Fleece-type toys, balls, stuffed animals…..make sure no part of the toy including squeakers or plastic eyes can be pulled out or swallowed.
Chew bones
A chew bone is the equivalent of a teething ring for babies.
Food and water bowls
Avoid plastic, which can cause allergic reactions in some dogs. The best food dishes are stainless steel and for water, use a water bottle.
Food
Start with the same food the pup is currently eating. If you change his food, do this gradually.
Soft buckle collar
A cat collar may work better for Chihuahua puppies.
Lightweight leash
An adjustable show lead is good for puppies.
Grooming
Soft brush
Clothes
According to your climate, you may need sweaters, coats or fleece t-shirts. Purchase stylish lightweight shirts for warmer climates.
Accessories
Chihuahuas look nice in necklaces pearl or jewels with fancy charms. Experiment with different looks and have fun with the accessories you choose to compliment your Chihuahua's clothes.
